Social Media and Web Design: A Perfect Integration

Social Media Portal

Nowadays, designing a website is not all about putting content in their respective places. It now involves a lot of things, including the integration of social media buttons and “widgets” it. Every website on the world wide web must have its own social media account on various social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google+. However, running it isn’t as simple as it sounds, since the people behind it will face a lot of competition against their rivals in the market. Even if you have an outstanding web design, you will still have a lot of work to do in prepping up your social networking accounts. Here are the reasons why your website/company must make use of social networking and the procedures on how to maximize it.

People spend a lot of time online on social networking sites. Most people, especially the younger generation, are actually spending a third of their time either on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest or Tumblr. These social networking sites (while the last two may be considered as blogging sites) are usually the “online hangouts” of these people, a place where they can share content, disseminate information and access interactive content. They can laugh at funny pictures together, have conversations, plan events and watch videos together.  This is one of the reasons why you must be able to establish your presence on these sites, especially the first three mentioned above. The thing is, people would visit your site, yes, but I believe that people would rather visit your Facebook page or Twitter account.

An avenue to communicate and disseminate content. Yes, you may have posted your company’s e-mail address and contact details, but in today’s fast-paced digital world, why would a person spend a lot of time writing an email when he could just post a query on your Facebook timeline or Twitter feed? Yes, you may have posted updated information regarding your products and services, but is your audience able to reach it? The thing is, they need to personally visit your website in order to access the content. Once you have a social networking account and if they are connected to it, they will be able to see the content every time they log-in. They will also be able to communicate and post queries in a quick manner.

Spam is never appreciated. Yes, you need to post updates every now and then, but you really don’t have to post your promos and services every five minutes. It’s pretty annoying and may actually make your subscribers “unlike” (in Facebook) or “unfollow” (in Twitter) your page and account. Quick tip: post only relevant information that you actually need to disseminate.

To round this entry up, each and every website you own or design must make use of social media tools and content. Make your customers know which social networking sites you are on, in order for them to check your page out. Starting up an account and prepping it up to serve a mass audience is pretty difficult, since you’ll have to start from nothing. It takes a lot of patience and perseverance but it will guarantee your success in the long run.
