Mobile Web Advertising: Do’s and Dont’s

Web design and advertising play a vital role in improving the Internet and is a sure way to get some extra cash, so in order to maximize their effects; you could hire a Tampa Web designer. Designing a website for desktop computers may be a mainstream thing right now, however, remember that mobile devices are currently a rising commodity. Smart phones and tablets are now overtaking the popularity of laptops and desktop computers; you rarely see a street corner or park without a person surfing the net with a mobile device. This is one of the reasons why a lot of companies are creating a mobile version of their websites.

Browsing the Internet while using a smart phone provides a whole new experience compared to what a desktop computer brings. Obviously, screen sizes are a whole lot smaller and it takes a lot of time to get used to. At first there may not be enough space to swipe your fingers and a whole web page may be pretty difficult to navigate since it may not actually fit the screen or everything may look smaller since the device will make it zoom out. Mobile web design has solved all of these problems by revamping websites and introducing a one-dimensional and scroll down layout. One of the challenges web designers face is how to integrate advertising into a mobile platform. So, how do you effectively put advertisements on mobile devices? Here are some of the things that you should take into consideration:

Mobile ads should not be intrusive
Let’s face it; a lot of users hate online advertisements, which is why the use of less intrusive advertisements like the traditional banner may be utilized. It may not have a high Click-Through-Rate(CTR, which is the percentage of clicks every 1000 impressions) but it is sure to make your users happy. Ads that pop up are or take over the screen momentarily (that you can close) are guaranteed to be seen by your users, but they are pretty intrusive and are not really recommended.

Smaller file sizes
Online advertisements must not have large file sizes since this will obviously make it load a lot slower. Mobile devices are less powerful than laptops and desktop computers, which make them load and operate slower. Ads like banners must be simple, low-resolution yet acceptable and must contain direct messages and a call to action. Smaller file sizes enable faster loading times and a smooth experience.

Direct to the point
We have seen advertisements all over the Internet that use mini games that allow you to shoot down a certain mobile phone or a plane. However, these ads are without substance and will probably be entertained by the most gullible of minds. In order to successfully attract clicks (or swipes) your advertisement, no matter what form, must be able to promote its content at first glance.

Compared to desktop computers, mobile browsing is a relatively new technology which is still being developed. Every year, countless innovations are being introduced which makes mobile web design and advertising a pretty open field.
